HollyShorts ‘07 Official Selection ‘Dandelion’ Wins Backlot Fest
Congrats to filmmaker Jackie Liao for picking up the Best Student Film for her animated short film ‘DANDELION’ at the Backlot Fest in Culver City. Jackie’s film was an official selection at last year’s HollyShorts. Backlot ran Wednesday, April 2 through Friday, April 5 and included 14 premieres, in its four-day run, in the independent feature, documentary, shorts and student shorts categories. Best Short Film winner was Paula Jimenez and JC Nunez’ comedy PENCIL FIGHTING. Documentary was won by OJ IS GUILTY-BUT NOT OF MURDER, THE OVERLOOKED SUSPECT and accepted by private investigator, author and filmmaker William C. Dear. LA CUCINA and YESTERDAY WAS A LIE tied for Best Independent Feature.
Co-director Zed Starkovich accepted for LA CUCINA, a romantic dramedy, and executive producer, writer and director James Kerwin accepted for YESTERDAY, a sci-fi film noir.
